About Genesis Ladies Hockey Club

Genesis Hockey Club was founded thirty years ago, the first membership being made up of ex-UCD and Trinity graduates. In our first season we had only two teams but enjoyed the unique distinction of been admitted directly into the senior league.

We are now proud to be one of the largest Leinster Senior Clubs. This year we have 130 registered players and field six senior league teams; our first team who play in the Senior A League. All teams did very well last season, with three teams being very strong contenders for promotion. We hope this success will continue this season due to our strong and upcoming junior division.

Our junior division greatly contributes to the success of Genesis Hockey Club which comprises of players under 18 years who come from all over south county Dublin. The girls in the junior division are of various hockey standards who enjoy the opportunity of additional hockey outside school, extra training, matches and also the opportunity to meet and get to know girls from other hockey schools in a non-competitive way. One of the highlights of the junior experience for many is the chance to travel to the Netherlands for the International Under 16 tournament at Valkensvaald.

Genesis is also proud to have a very active Veterans team (over 35). These are the ladies who show us all how it is done, in the social aspect as well as hockey!

Genesis Hockey Club manages to promote good hockey but also ensures a friendly and social atmosphere. After 30 years it is still a thriving club and we hope that this will continue for many more years and more.
