Welcome to Genesis Ladies Hockey Club

Well done to the 2nds who won their cup match at the weekend 2-1 in extra time!!!!!! Both goals scored by Anna O’Loughlin. The draw for the semi finals has been made and Genesis 2nds will face Diocesan 1st on the 17th February. This is a very important game and I would ask that everyone try and make an effort to support the 2nds. I will advise the time and venue at a later stage.
Also well done to the 4ths who unfortunately lost their game after battling it out at the penalty strokes stage!!!!!! The 4ths game was very evenly matched against Skerries 2nds, but they were very unlucky to get knocked out at the very end.

South Dublin Hockey Club Genesis kicked off 2008 with a full programme
of games last Saturday. With 6 senior teams, an enthusiastic veteran's
team and an active colts section Genesis is one of Leinster's largest
hockey clubs. The club are based in UCD and is very active socially as
well as on the hockey field. Genesis 1st team are readjusting to life in
the 1st division and began 2008 with a tough fixture against last year's
champions Loreto. Genesis matched the champions for most of the game but
where unlucky to concede a late goal to lose the game 1-0. In a tough
scheduling fixture they then faced Railway 2nd XI in the Leinster Senior
Cup on Sunday. Unfortunately the exertions of Saturday took their toll
on the team and they never generated the momentum to see off a
determined Railway team, eventually losing out 2-1.
Just one point off the top of the league Genesis 2nd XI is having a very
successful season. Last Saturday saw the team up against Newbridge 1sts
and an exciting match which featured a spectacular reverse stick goal
from Caoilfhionn Deeney ended in a hard fought 1-1 draw. Freddie
Langheld was the hero of the 4ths scoring the equaliser against a
determined Pembroke team. Genesis 5ths and 6ths were unfortunate to
start off the year with losses but the 3 rd XI secured the result of the
day with some heroic goalkeeping from Maire O'Neill maintaining their
1-0 lead after Sally O'Herlihy had put them ahead. So overall a mixed
start to the year for Genesis but this Saturday presents a whole new set
of games.
